Who knew there was so much to know about car seat safety? We took a free class last night offered by Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and Safe Kids Greater Grand Rapids. It was well worth our time!
Did you know? Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 4 and older. Counting children and teens up to age 21, there are more than 5,000 deaths each year. Fatalities are just the tip of the iceberg; for every fatality, roughly 18 children are hospitalized (90,000) and more that 400 are injured seriously enough to require medical treatment (2,000,000).

We have the fire dept install our carseats for us. Certain fire stations have guys qualified to safely install them. And the one thing that kills me when I see people strap their kids in is the buckle is down by their belly instead of by their armpits and most people don't tighten them down tight enough. They are afraid their kid is uncomfortable but never consider if they get in an accident that child will get whipped around if not tightened down securely. Sorry im very passionate about that! Haha
