The past week has been extremely eventful for
us to say the least! We wanted to update
everyone on what has been going on. It
has been so busy that finding time to do it has been impossible. It is a quick summary but will give you an
idea of what we have been up to.
Monday
12/5/11
4:45 am Water Breaks
9:21 am Faith Evelyn Sunde is born 5 weeks
early by C-section because she was breech.
She is breathing on own with a strong heartbeat and is 7 lbs. 1 oz. and
21” long.a
We had our first eye contact, hand grasp, and
she loves her pacifier.
Tuesday
12/6/11 – 1 day old
7:30 – 11:30 am Surgery for Colostomy (stool)
and Ostomy (urine)
Mommy and Daddy gave first kiss before
surgery
Wednesday
12/7/11 – 2 days old
Faith is on the ventilator from surgery and
very sleepy from morphine.
MRI of entire body but focusing on Spine and
Brain.
Thursday
12/8/11 – 3 days old
Mommy discharged from the hospital. So tough to go home without her!
Mommy took temperature for the first time.
Friday
12/9/11 – 4 days old
Faith is taken off the ventilator and gets
colostomy bag.
Mommy changed diaper for the first time.
Saturday
12/10/11 - 5 days old
Jaundice (Bilirubin levels too high) and needs
to be under lights 24/7.
Eye Exam performed and Faith can definitely
see! J
Mommy holds for the first time.
Breast milk by tube for the first time.
Daddy weighs for first time and is 6 lbs. 11
oz.
Mommy changes diaper twice and takes
temperature twice.
Daddy holds for the first time.
Sunday
12/11/11 – 6 days old
Mommy changes diaper twice and tries bottle
feeding. Faith is not interested and
gets to her while she is fed breast milk by tube.
Monday
12/12/11 – 7 days old
Faith is not Jaundice anymore and doesn’t
need the lights anymore. She can be
swaddled (which she loves) and come out of the incubator for more than just a
very short time.
Mommy changes diaper twice, feeds bottle, and
gets to snuggle skin-to-skin for over an hour!
Once Mommy has her turn, Daddy takes his turn! We both couldn’t have
been happier! J Today
is the best day yet!
It has been tough but we are all hanging in
there. Faith is scheduled for surgery to
have a Brain Shunt on Thursday. Please
continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the update! Been thinking of you guys and praying lots! I know how scary and stressful it is to have your little one in the hospital, and how difficult it is to go home after delivery without your precious bundle! Just know that one day this will all be a distant memory and that all will work out in the end! God's plan is always greater than our own, and His purpose is great for you and Faith!
